Overview
GreenLife Microfinance is a growing financial institution in Tanzania offering diverse lending products — from SME loans and asset finance to agri-business funding and invoice discounting. They came to us with a WordPress template website that was holding them back: it didn't reflect their brand, couldn't properly showcase their loan products, and was losing them potential clients who couldn't find what they needed.
The Challenge
Their original site was built on a generic WordPress financial template. The brand colors and typography couldn't be properly customized — the template's built-in green clashed with GreenLife's actual brand palette. The loan products were crammed into a rigid grid that couldn't accommodate their product categories.
Content was incomplete because the template's rigid structure didn't match their actual offerings — sections were left half-filled or with placeholder text. Page load times were over 6 seconds due to bloated WordPress plugins. The site wasn't mobile-optimized despite most of their audience browsing on phones.
Most critically, there was no WhatsApp integration — and in Tanzania, most customer inquiries come through WhatsApp. Every small content change required a developer because the template's page builder was unintuitive and fragile.
Our Approach
We audited the existing WordPress site to document every pain point — from brand inconsistency to missing product information and broken mobile layouts. Then we designed a custom component system built around GreenLife's actual brand identity — not a template's approximation.
We built dedicated product pages for each loan category with structured information: descriptions, use cases, key benefits, and clear call-to-action flows. A customer testimonial carousel with real client stories added social proof that the template couldn't accommodate.
We integrated a floating WhatsApp widget connected to their sales team for instant lead capture — matching how Tanzanian customers actually prefer to inquire.
Mobile & SEO Optimization
We optimized for mobile-first with responsive breakpoints, fast image loading, and touch-friendly navigation. The entire site was rebuilt in Next.js, eliminating the WordPress plugin bloat that caused 6+ second load times.
We added structured SEO markup and a Swahili/English content strategy to rank for Tanzanian financial service searches. Every product page is individually optimized with relevant keywords and structured data.
The Results
Every loan product now has its own dedicated page instead of being crammed into a rigid template grid. Brand identity is accurate — their actual colors, typography, and voice, not a template approximation.
WhatsApp integration captures leads through the channel Tanzanian customers actually use. Pages load in under 2 seconds instead of 6+ seconds from bloated WordPress plugins.
Looking Ahead
GreenLife is planning to add an online loan application flow directly on the website, building on the component system we designed. The WhatsApp integration is being extended to support automated responses for common loan inquiries.
